My dad, Randy Thomas, began working in the hardwood flooring industry in 1978. After getting married, raising four children, and spending nearly 15 years in the trade, he established Thomas Wood Floors, Inc. in 1992.
When I was asked what I wanted to do after high school, my answer was different from my siblings who chose to attend college. I knew I wanted to work with my hands—and more importantly, I wanted to work with my dad. Throughout my high school summers, I helped him on jobs, learning his trade and his craft. I was inspired by the process of creating something tangible and seeing a finished product come to life.
I went on to spend the next 20 years working side by side with my family. During that time, I continued to learn and grow, collaborating with homeowners and builders, tackling new challenges, mastering the ins and outs of the business, and introducing new technology to improve our craft.
Now that my parents have retired, I have the privilege of carrying on our family business. I’m excited to make Spokane my new home, share the craftsmanship that has been passed down to me, and continue building Thomas Wood Floors into the future.
